24 hours in Naples

Outside the Ciccone Guest house, Naples, Italy.

I have no idea why I have not posted in so long!  Time to catch up.  No apologies by the way. Just lots of text.

These are pictures from the last school vacation in early February, during the ski vacation in France when everyone has 2 weeks off to go skiing (and the entire country rotates the 2 weeks by region to keep the ski resorts full all season long - you have to love that, we do).   Let me remind all of you, French kids go to school for 6 weeks, then have off 2 weeks of vacation.  Two months off July and August.  At first a bit odd for an American, now we love it.  Time to rest, travel, and enjoy life.  And those 6 weeks they are in school the teachers crack the whip and the hours are long so vacation is needed for rest they believe.

Back to Naples...

We typically don't go skiing due to the crowds but find some other fun thing to do.  We like the Frech Alps off season by the way.  This year, it was less than 48 hours in Naples to see our good friend John McArdle (who I have known for over 20 years via Kathleen).  Then we just amused ourselves with life, and daily Paris, which, at a minimum, is awesome.

Naples - EasyJet out of Orly, no checked bags, backpack only, kids loved it.  We had been to Naples before in 2011 but not in the city so much.  The pizza was amazing and we loved the old city and the energy.  And the food.  So good, so cheap, so energetic, and so old European.  As JD likes to say, "Italy is the Italian word for chaos".  Hope to go back soon.

The place we stayed was so cool, very old, Vincent loved his room and arranged it as he wanted.

Saturday pictures
Up and out early, cheap flight to Naples (worse turbulance of my life it's probably that darn Vesuvius but have decided to not speak of it again) and cab to AirBNB Ciccone Guest house.  Resting, eating, drinking, catching up.

Sunday pictures
Recovering from a fabulous homemade Italian meal with pasta and sausage and cheese, up early, some lovely strong Italian coffee, and back to Paris in a flash.  So much fun.

This meal of the best pizza of our lives cost less than $20 USD for a family for four pizzas and 2 beers!!

and if you want to stay there - Alberto was great!
Ciccone Guest house #2 and #3...assume all other numbers in the building are great too.

There was this cool old huge world map in the apartment - Vincent is pointing to where San Francisco is where John lives, and Alex is pointing to Naples.  A long way but such good friends for SO long.  Just process it!

and, ya know, Mickey has been everywhere, even on the bedspread at Ciccone Guest house #03:
